So, the last month has been pretty busy for us. On Wednesday Heather wrapped up a three week class at Truett. Heather did very well in the class as usual and it is neat to observe how she is developing theologically and how that impacts the way she lives.
I have been auditing Greek 1 and 2 to prepare for my Greek readings class in 1 and 2 Thessalonians this fall. I wrap up class on Thursday. I’ve also been busy over the last three weeks leading worship for Baylor’s Line Camp for freshman and transfer students.
Line Camp is a place for new students to make friends, learn about the traditions of Baylor, and overall just have a great time in preparation for attending Baylor in the fall. Part of the Line Camp experience is going to Independence, TX where Baylor started. This picture is of the columns from one of the original buildings. In a moving ceremony of worship, prayer, and reflection the students pass through the columns and this signifies their initiation into the Baylor Line.
This is our last week of summer before all of the craziness of of the fall semester kicks in. Next Monday is the start of fall training for me with Community Living and Learning and with Resident Chaplains. It is a good but intense time of bonding, learning, planning, and preparation for the fall semester.
The “Be the Change” missions conference (http://www.baylor.edu/spirituallife/index.php?id=53955) that Heather is responsible for is just around the corner as well. This year’s theme is addressing both local and global injustices and challenging participants to figure out how they can engage injustice. They are doing a witty little play on words with engaging in justice/engaging injustice. If you are in the area, this is a free conference that you should definitely consider attending.
Tuesday is our three year wedding anniversary. The past two years we were fortunate to be able to go on vacation to celebrate. This year, we are just going to spend the day together here in Waco or maybe pop down to Austin. While marriage is by no means a cake walk, we feel incredibly blessed to have a healthy and strong marriage and we look forward to many more years together.
Grace and Peace,
Chad and Heather
What a beautiful website. We are really excited to see you. I’m so proud of your accomplishments and it sounds like you are taking some really fun and interesting classes! We found out you moved to a new apartment. Are you enjoying it?
We love you both and are thankful that you are each other’s best friends and partners.
